The subsplit DAG containing three trees on four taxa. Written in Newick [19] parenthetical notation these are ((0, 1), (2, 3)), (0, ((1, 2), 3)), and (0, (1, (2, 3))). We obtain a tree by choosing a single edge out of every “clade” (e.g. \(\{1,2,3\}\)) from each subplit (e.g. \(\{\{0\},\{1,2,3\}\}\)), and one of the dashed edges from the DAG root \(\rho\)
